SKÓGAFOSS

One of Iceland’s largest and most powerful waterfalls, dropping straight down from ancient sea cliffs on the South Coast.

About Skógafoss

Skógafoss is one of the largest and most impressive waterfalls in Iceland, with a wide curtain of water plunging directly over a former sea cliff. On sunny days, mist from the waterfall often creates vivid rainbows at its base.

The waterfall is easily accessible from the Ring Road and offers two very different perspectives. Visitors can stand close to the base for a powerful, immersive experience, or climb the staircase alongside the falls to enjoy panoramic views over the South Coast landscape.

Located just a short drive from Eyvindarholt, Skógafoss is an easy stop to combine with nearby sights such as Seljalandsfoss and Gljúfrabúi, making it a natural highlight of any South Coast visit.
